Helping Charities Save More – So They Can Do More
By John Devine, Director at TCD Energy
This September, the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Liverpool BID Company are hosting a Charity-Business Network event at the Port of Liverpool Building – bringing together businesses, charities, CICs, and non-profits to build partnerships that deliver real social value.
At TCD Energy, we specialise in helping charities, CICs, and community organisations cut their utility costs, recover historic overpayments, and unlock new revenue streams. Why?
Because every pound saved on bills is a pound that can be redirected into front-line services.
Over the past year, we’ve worked with some incredible organisations across the Liverpool City Region:
- At Willowbrook Hospice, we uncovered incorrect VAT charges and recovered £21,704 in overpaid bills – money that went directly back into patient care.
- At Centre 63 Youth & Community Centre, our audit identified VAT overcharges and costly supply contracts. We secured a rebate of over £17,000, reduced gas costs by 30%, and supported the charity in challenging an unfair electricity contract.
- At Bowring Park & Golf Course, we prevented utilities being disconnected after challenging more than £57,000 in historic water billing errors, while also cutting their energy costs by around 30%.
- At Shakespeare North Playhouse, we reduced electricity and gas costs by over 25%, set them up to earn income from surplus solar exports, and optimised their renewable systems.
These are just a few examples, but the message is simple: we help charities save more, so they can do more.
As part of this upcoming networking event, TCD Energy is offering all participating charities a free, no-obligation utility audit. We’ll review your energy, water, and waste contracts, identify hidden overcharges, and advise on renewable technologies like solar and EV charging.
